Oh the saga!! Somewere in-between games of source on http://www.cantstopgaming.com CS:Source server, I was given the idea to build a well rounded script package that had everything any gamer would want. I think Merc gave me the idea. So i began to work on the project. Little did I know a world of headache awaited me. Sometime in July after i got the first alpha version finished and ready to release, I got a wild hair in my butt and decided to convert to gentoo linux. In the process, I lost all of the package files that created the SuperScript. After about a month of fighting with wine to get steam to work lag free and correctly, I gave up and went back to Windows :-(.

Once Windows was reloaded and configured, I restarted the project. While dilagently working on the project one night, my main hard-disk desided to take a dump on me. Once again, no files or backups.

So Sometime in early October, I started again. This time, a complete offsite backup "automatically backedup via subversion every 5 minutes". About mid-way I realized that the packaged needed an installer. So I began working on an installer package and put down the scripts. After about a month, I finished the installer and was ready to finish the script. I learned sometime in the next few days after that I was going to be forced to reload gentoo on my desktop because of one of my classes at LA Tech. Again, the 3rd time, I forgot to backup my working copy of the script and deleted it. I realised this about 30 minutes into configuring my gentoo kernal. Ahh, I thought, I have my offsight backup, no biggy, I'll just download it. Wouldn't you guess, In the middle of downloading the packages off r2d2 my server, r2d2 crashed. When me and my roomie went to have a look at r2, we found kernal panics. For all you non linux people, thats really bad news. So after some investigation, we found out that ext3 wasnt as stable as we thought it was. And while transfering the files I have previously copied to r2d2, one of the journals got deleted some how. So there is was late october, finals are coming and my server tha holds all my files, including my homework and assignments, was having partition problems with a 50% chance that all was lost forever.

Again, I restarted the project. This time from total and complete frustrations from fearing I was about to fail an entire quarter. In the wee hours of the morning over lots of Bud Light, Capt'n Morgan's, and some other intoxicating materials, I decided I was in despirate need of help. So, I called over some buddies and we started tearing into r2d2. Ryan, a fellow CS student, who is also a linux genious, came by un-announced and knew exactly how to recover the lost partition. So by the next day I had all of my files back once again. This time I did what I should have done all along, burned a backup cd!

Finals week came and went, and I was still coming up with new ideas and still tring to finish just the base script. So on December 10th 2005 I finally released the first version of Superscript. Now, back to CS:Source on CSG!!! See you on the server.

Enjoy (=
