This is nothing more then marketing propaganda. Plan and simple. If you follow 4 really simple rules you are 99% virus protected without ever having to use a virus utility or having to use any other massive security features.
Rule 1: Nothing is free. If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. This includes music. If you use a peer2peer service, its always wise to be cautious of the music or other files downloaded because they could possibly be tampered with.
Rule 2: If you want porn, goto a adult shop. A website is hardly the place to view it.
Rule 3: If you feel the need to gamble, then goto a casino or a boat. Dont waste your time on a casino website. Trafficking money, from one place to another is just not a great idea.
Rule 4: If you use Myspace, be cautious of whose myspace page you view. If you dont know the person, then more then likely its a good idea to stay clear of that page.
CNN REPORT 30-MAR-09:
Well, researchers are hoping that a potential April Fool’s time bomb — the Conficker.c that is supposed to hit computers on April 1 — turns out to be equally unfounded.
But realizing that hope alone is not a prudent option, here is a primer on the worm so you can adequately prepare yourself — and your computer.
What is Conficker.c and what do analysts fear it may do?
Conficker.c is a worm, a malicious program thought to have already infected between 5 million and 10 million computers.
Those infections haven’t spawned many symptoms, but on April 1 a master computer is scheduled to gain control of these zombie machines, said Don DeBolt, director of threat research for CA, a New York-based IT and software company.
